In Tele-Communication, the term
local call means Any call using a single switching facility that is, not traveling to another telephone
network or we can say that a telephone
call made within a local calling area as defined by the local exchange carrier
Local calls have shorter numbers than long distance calls as the area code may not be required.A telephone call to a place near you that does not cost much money. Calls within your local calling area, sometimes referred to as Zone or Band calls. In most markets calls are charged a per minute rate or flat monthly rate. Calls outside this area are known as Intralata, Intrastate, or Interstate calls
Commercial
users who make or accept many long distance calls to or from a particular
distant place may make them as local calls.
Local Calls are becoming much cheaper these days compared to previous decade as the market is more competitive and are giving best prices to the Customers so that they can talk easily and with less tense about the call charges.As such the Pulse rate had been decreasing within short time which is more beneficial to the Customer.Local Telecom Companies are giving more offers to the Customers even in the Roaming facility also.
